GIRL Power Camp is a program that focuses specifically on helping female campers become the strongest version of themselves. We aim to show campers how to make positive and empowering choices for themselves and do positive things for others. The activities we include in each camp day gives young girls a space to build confidence, embrace their voice, and harness the impact of teamwork.
Throughout the week girls will be working on teamwork, communication, leadership ability, friendships, conflict resolution, and listening skills, all while building each other (and themselves) up.
Who Am I?: Girls create a self-portrait and then write attributes about themselves (how they see themselves) focusing on internal traits — smart, kind, funny — rather than external and superficial ones. They also use this to introduce themselves and get to know one another.
Guest speakers are brought in to speak to our campers about generosity, integrity, responsibility and leadership. Some previous speakers include:
- Reading Cooperative bank president, Julieann Thurlow
- NBC10 newscaster, Christa Delcamp
- Professor of Mathematics, Elyssa Miller
- Engineer, Sarah Matson
- Police Officer, Kathy Porier
- Business Manager Global Performance Running Footwear at New Balance, Claire Wood
