Movie Making Camp

Learn the tricks and techniques that go into making movies and television.

Campers work as a creative team, developing several projects inspired by the week's theme.

Projects include:

  • Movie trailers
  • Newscasts (weather, current events, interviews)
  • Crazy commercials

When filming outdoors or in-studio, campers learn essential techniques such as:

  • Continuity
  • Camera angles
  • Filters effect

Then in the Editing Lab and Special Effects Studio they learn how to use Final Cut Pro, industry standard editing software, to:

  • Cut their project
  • Select the perfect score
  • Add in a background (from our digital library of 14,000 HD backgrounds!)
  • Add effects

By the end of the week they have built a strong foundation upon which to build future projects in movie making!

Typical Day

Days at LINX Camps are typically spent laughing and learning with friends! Movie Making Camp includes three daily movie making intensives, a lunch period, a swim period (including lessons from trained LINX Swim Instructors who implement our safe, fun-based, non-stress approach to teaching), and a bonus camp activity period.

During the three daily movie making intensives, campers are able to gain experience in both outdoor and in-studio filming. Once they have material, they spend time in our Special Effects Studio or Editing Lab where they work with industry standard editing software (Final Cut Pro) and have access to a digital library of 14,000 HD backgrounds!

While Movie Making Campers are immersed in specialty sessions for half the day, they also have the opportunity to interact with non-movie making camp friends during opening and closing ceremonies, as well as lunch. Our popular camp-wide activities help us to build a sense of camp community.

Mix It Up!

Many campers choose Movie Making Camp for multiple sessions to improve skills. Some compliment that with a week in another LINX Specialty Camp or a week in one of our LX Performing Arts Camps for a more intense performing arts focus. You may also add a General Camp or Sports Camp to experience all LINX Camps has to offer!

Reviews for 2nd & 3rd graders

I know [my son] had an absolute blast at Linx this summer and especially this past week at movie making camp. It was really a dream come true for him, he's been talking about being a director for at least 3 years, which is a pretty significant chunk of a 7 year old's life! I'm counting on him to take me to the Oscars one day!

You guys are terrific. We absolutely LOVE the updates and feedback. I am sure this is really, really time consuming but it makes a huge difference to know that you know our children individually. It is especially easy to notice how well you pay attention when it is twins who are [...] both great, but clearly very different. You clearly got a sense for and shared with us their individuality.

Reviews for 4th & 5th graders

We want to thank you for giving our daughter a tremendous experience this past week. [She] specifically asked to go back to Movie Making and she said [her counselor] was sooo nice. There are a lot of camps and programs out there, and it's hard to find a place that you feel comfortable leaving your kids, but we want you to know we have found that in Linx. [T]hank you for making [our daughter] feel a part of the group!

Way to go Linx! I wish the other camps had counselors as good as yours. My kids really notice the difference in the caring and attitudes towards the kids. Linx ROCKS!
