Coding Cadets | 4th - 8th Grades

LINX Coding Cadets teaches campers how to design, create and develop their very own websites, utilizing a variety of coding languages, while they develop a wide range of key skills. The three fundamental languages that make up any website, that our campers will be introduced to, are HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Campers are introduced to all three languages, and over the course of the week receive individualized instruction so they can put what they’ve learned into practice with various project challenges. Ultimately, campers create their very own website!

Details

HTML is used to define the content of the webpage, CSS is used to specify the layout of the webpage, and JavaScript is used to program the behavior of the webpage. Listed below is a sample of some of the elements campers explore throughout the week:

  • HTML5 - Basic principles, Syntax, Tags, Classes & IDs, DOM (Document Object Model)
  • CSS - Basic principles, Syntax, Selectors (e.g. class #id), Properties (e.g. text-align, background color)
  • JavaScript - Basic principles, Syntax, Variables, Functions, If/else statements

Sample Day

Coding Cadet campers enjoy 3 specialty periods, a lunch period, swim lessons (from trained LINX Swim Instructors who implement our safe, fun-based, non-stress approach to teaching) including free swim four times a week, and a bonus camp activity period.
